2006 had been a year of success and blessing and I hope 2007 will be better. In 2006, of course I had my college degree and then started a new life in Durham thanks to my “little angels” like I call them: Laura and Jurgen. They did everything possible to make it possible for me to settle well in Durham and the southern life of North Carolina. My holidays were great even though I felt homesick and would have loved to be in Lome, kpalime or Yikpa to eat that early fufu of christmas morning with goat meat sauce and the NEw Year’s Eve’s midnight mass (which they don’t have here in US) and then go party in a bar of Kpalime after that. Either way the holidays have been great. Usually on the holidays I try to call my family members back in Togo even those I only call once or twice a year. The communication was terrible in Togo, but I was still happy to talk to my family. Now we’re all back to our daily tasks even though we didn’t feel like doing it. One good thing that happen was that I started receiving emails from Fo Norbert from Yikpa. He’s now living in Kpalime and we can communicate more often and have news from Yikpa and start thinking about projects for Yikpa our common native village. The new year has already well started for the Togo football association with the election of its new president Tata Avlessi. We hope that he’ll help our country’s football do better than what they did in Germany last year with the money issue that was all over the news in the world. Also with the new multi-partisan government in Togo we hope there will be good and fair congressional elections in 2007 and that that will bring a little more joy and hope in the life of Togolese. May 2007 bring all of us good health and a lot of success, especially to people in and from Yikpa and their friends all around the world!!!! Bonne Annee!!!!
