Yeah. Even the CAN rule says "except for special situations" if this attack was not special situation then I don't know what is. The argument that the government interfered doesn't stand. Every government has the right to protect its citizens and if your citizens are attacked by a rebel group (fighting for political reasons) in an area where matches are held because of Angolan government's political decision to hold matches in an unsafe place, the citizens have to be protected.

This ban is an outrage! Penalizing a team after it suffered a deadly attack on it way to your event? Not only did the CAF blame the victims ("they should not have traveled over land") now Hayatou adds insult to injury?! Just sticking to the rules of the CAN? How about sticking to the rules of decency?

thanks Jurgen. It is real sad for Togo especially after the Sierra Leone helicopter crash which killed many members of the Togolese Football Federation including the then Minister of Sports. With all the problems we have already have in Togo. Football is not really worth all this in my opinion.

Condolences to the families and the team for the lives lost - as I am writing this the BBC reports three deaths from the shooting. This is a sad and tragic day for Togo and for African Football. Clearly, the Angolan authorities made a huge mistake assessing the security situation in Cabinda. Or maybe security was not an overriding priority for the decision makers? Either way, I think the other teams need to carefully consider their own security situation as well as how to honor those who lost their lives in this brutal assault.

Yes, my friend - looks like the RPT/Gnassingbe kleptocracy did it again. I know, it's frustrating, but it can't be very surprising. There is just simply no way the RPT and the Gnassingbe clan will relinquish their grip on power in Togo. And as long as Paris and foreign companies support them, the opposition simply does not stand a chance to boot them out of power, through elections or by force.

My friend - it is just too bad that the stories from our beloved village are so troublesome these days. But the sad and troubling stories need to be heard so that we may learn from them and grow, and avoid the mistakes of the past.

Truth is the most important step toward reconciliation. And the truth about our village is a fragile sapling that needs care and sunlight.
