Every government has the right to protect its citizens and if your citizens are attacked by a rebel group (fighting for political reasons) in an area where matches are held because of Angolan government's political decision to hold matches in an unsafe place, the citizens have to be protected. It is real sad for Togo especially after the Sierra Leone helicopter crash which killed many members of the Togolese Football Federation including the then Minister of Sports. This is a sad and tragic day for Togo and for African Football. Clearly, the Angolan authorities made a huge mistake assessing the security situation in Cabinda. Or maybe security was not an overriding priority for the decision makers? Either way, I think the other teams need to carefully consider their own security situation as well as how to honor those who lost their lives in this brutal assault. And as long as Paris and foreign companies support them, the opposition simply does not stand a chance to boot them out of power, through elections or by force.
